TALKABOUT : Snorkeling

Time for some sun, everybody! For Hello Balloon’s first year anniversary, we’re taking you snorkeling in Anilao, Batangas, where we’ll visit two of our favorite dive spots. Also, don’t forget to check out what went wrong with my wet suit that led to me mooning an entire school of silver jack fish.  But first… BREAKFAST!

It has become our tradition to start our road trips with a hearty breakfast from one of the fast food joints at the Shell station along the South Luzon Expressway. Today, I went with KFC…

… While Anthony boldly went for some Cinnabon. A lot, actually. Hahaha!

Ever seen a person eat four cinnamon rolls in a row? LOL! Just kidding, mister. (He had two.)

It's always a pleasure to visit Dive and Trek — This is where we got certified for diving in 2008. Here, our friend Dory hands Anthony his wet suit.

Had some fun shooting a couple of self-portraits when I realized that Anthony and the two boatmen were all standing around waiting for me to finish. LOL!

Spirits were high as we approached our first snorkeling stop, Sombrero Island, which was around half an hour from Dive and Trek.

Love how Anthony is looking very Jacques Cousteau in this picture! Oh, and take a moment to enjoy our boat man's cheeky t-shirt.

What a beautiful day to be out in the water!

As Anthony went ahead and jumped off the boat, I found myself entranced by the unspoiled beauty of Sombrero Island.

The reefs at Sombrero Island consist mainly of soft coral, and are home to schools of colorful little "fishies."

After an afternoon of snorkeling, I love to load up my plate at the buffet table — In the interest of full disclosure, this was plate number one… of three! Hahaha!

Nothing beats a good, long stretch on a lazy afternoon.

Anthony was insistent that I pose by the outdoor bar, only to be told later on that he just wanted to have a picture of me standing next to a cactus.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let nature work its magic on you.

This stunning seascape left us marveling at how much of the world we have yet to explore together.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported Hello Balloon this past year. As you can imagine, Anthony and I are having a lot of fun with the blog and love sharing our stories with you. More to come, definitely!
