So here we are, back at the easel! Now on my seventh Saturday in painting class, I decided to replicate a classic head-and-shoulders portrait as my exercise, with the intention of training my eyes to distinguish between colors, particularly subtle shifts in skin tone, and more importantly, to explore a less cartoonish, more realist style of painting.

My sister Cristina and I are now going on our fifth week at painting class, and so far, we’re both having a blast. In terms of subjects, Cristina tends to gravitate towards landscapes and still life, while I continue to satisfy my appetite for portraiture.

I wanted to share with you another painting exercise from my Saturday art class, where I chose Picasso’s Marie Thérèse Leaning on One Elbow (1939). It was my first time working with acrylics, and I was thrilled to paint my first pair of luscious Picasso lips!
